Some questions don't resolve neatly.

What does prevention actually mean in mental health? Why do we keep rediscovering the same lessons about disease and society? How will lived experience become leadership? What does a body of work look like when it crosses disciplines, languages, and forms - and refuses to stay in its lane?

ēmvasis is where I work through those questions in public. It's the imprint behind my upcoming books, an attempt to "publish together" from the margins, and the home of my writing - and over time, that of friends who share the vision. Critiques on mental health, essays on public health and its politics, reflections from fieldwork across the world's continents, and fiction that places the human experience first and takes the long view of what disease does to people and to systems.

I'm Dr Antonis Kousoulis - physician, public health specialist, and Director of the Global Mental Health Action Network. I write in Greek and English. I've worked in Greece, the UK, and internationally, and I'm on a lifelong journey of understanding what I'm observing.

"ēmvasis" means entrance. Or way through. Both seemed right.
